Course Description
The Pediatric Decontamination training will provide a broad overview of potential care needs for the pediatric patient involved in an emergency/disaster situation. This 1 hour training in part of a 1 day training on Pediatric Emergency Preparedness sponsored by the CRD HEPC. After completing the training, the learner will be able to: 1. Understand the unique needs of pediatric patients during decontamination 2. Plan and train for pediatric decontamination in the field and hospital setting Topics covered in the training include: * Risk factors for exposure/post-exposure * Unique concerns of decontamination of pediatric patients,: ^ Physiological ^ Behavioral/Developmental ^ Logistics * Strategies for implementing decontamination in the field or hospital setting
