Course Description
Extreme weather floods, hurricanes, heat waves, wind storms, blizzards, and ice storms have always had a public health component. Now, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Climate-Ready States and Cites Initiative, and the American Public Health Association Climate Change: Mastering the Public Health Role time for public health professionals to begin systematizing their knowledge of climate change and their roles as professionals in response to climate change.
¨Identify the health impacts of climate change and the populations most vulnerable to these impacts;
¨Describe how to anticipate future trends and the impact of those trends on various public health issues;
¨Describe systems that are in place to detect and respond to emerging health threats;
¨Identify resources that can help you develop strategies to manage these health risks.
