Course Description
Background
An FDE Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) has been approved for administration of the Pfizer “Pediatric Formulation” to children ages 5-11. This 45 minute training will review key clinical considerations for the COVID-19 vaccine and minors, determining eligibility and obtaining consent, and pediatric vaccination administration.
Objectives
1. Review CDC and FDA recommendations for the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children 5-11 years old
2. Summarize workflow of offering the Pfizer vaccine to children at the state-operated Mass Vaccination Sites
3. Provide a demonstration of pediatric vaccination technique
4. Explore options for managing typical childhood fears of receiving vaccines
Target Audience
Any staff member working at a state-operated Mass Vaccination Site offering pediatric vaccination.
