As part of the CDC funded National Public Health Improvement Initiative, the NYS DOH Performance Management Group (PMG) in the Office of Public Health Practice has developed the 'Quality Improvement Team Development' Quick-learn module with the Empire State Public Health Training Center. This module is designed to be one part of a comprehensive approach to integrate QI into the culture of the agency. In alignment with the DOH Strategic Objective to 'Become a model performance-based organization' the PMG will be offering additional on-line modules as well as instructor led training and facilitation services for QI projects and performance management efforts across the organization.
Setting up Quality Improvement Teams is one part of the Performance Management Series. The work of a QI project is accomplished by a team of individuals, which is known as a QI Team. The purpose of the team is to design, manage, and monitor performance improvement activities to achieve the aim of the QI Project.
At the end of this tutorial you will be able to:
- Describe the importance QI Teams
- Describe how to choose effective members for a QI team
