Description: The FLRTC and HAWCNY invited New York VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) and the Voluntary Agency Liaisons from both NYS DHSES (Emergency Services) and FEMA Region II to provide an overview of the ways they collaborate within the state to coordinate Member Organizations and county Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) networks to prepare for and respond to disasters and public health emergencies.  The discussion will highlight the roles played by each agency and the resources available to build local capacity and capabilities. Examples from recent events will further illustrate how VOAD activates and deploys to support local nonprofits and emergency managers since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
