Course Description

THANK YOU FOR EXPLORING THE BETA VERSION OF OUR 'THE NURSE'S ROLE AND CLIMATE CHANGE' COURSE. THE MODULE IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVISION BASED ON FEEDBACK.

Without substantial changes in emissions rates, climate change from the buildup of greenhouse gases is likely to lead to extensive transformations of U.S. ecosystems and coastlines later this century. The U.S. Department of Defense's 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review recently determined that climate change will contribute to food and water scarcity, may spur or exacerbate global mass migration, and will increase negative health consequences. The online course specifically addresses the nursing role in climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies. It includes a pre-test, a one hour interactive module incorporating a case study, and a post test.

Objectives

Course Objectives

The goals of this course are to:

  • Familiarize the learner to the basic concepts of and trends related to climate change and health effects.
