Performance Management: A Systems Approach to Public Health Online Ongoing

Course Description

As part of the CDC funded National Public Health Improvement Initiative, the NYS DOH Performance Management Group (PMG) in the Office of Public Health Practice has developed the 'Introduction to Performance Management - A Systems Approach to Public Health' training module. This module is designed to be one part of a comprehensive approach to integrate Performance Management and QI into the culture of the agency. In alignment with the DOH Strategic Objective to 'Become a model performance-based organization' the PMG will be offering additional on-line modules as well as instructor led training and facilitation services for QI projects and performance management efforts across the organization.

This tutorial provides an overview of the components of the Turning Point Performance Management Framework, explains how these components relate to day to day tasks, and describes the role of the New York State Department of Health’s Performance Management Group.  It also includes a question and answer period between the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health Director, Kristine Mesler and the Performance Management Director, Drew Hanchett on the process of redesigning a Request for Application within a State Health Department, illustrating the benefits of approaching  work from  a performance management perspective.”
