Benefits of Accreditation Webinar 9-28-2015

The Path to Accreditation - Valerie Webb, Cook County Illinois
Clinton County Health Department Accreditation Journey - Jerie Reid

This program features two speakers who were an important part of the accreditation process of their local health department.

Our first speaker is Valarie Webb.  Valerie received her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She has worked as a public health practitioner for 28 years at the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH). As a Regional Health Officer, Valerie is primarily responsible for facilitating community health assessments and improvement plans. Most recently, she served as the Accreditation Coordinator leading to the department's successful voluntary public health accreditation status in March 2014. Valerie is a PHAB site reviewer and member of the NACCHO Accreditation Learning Coordinator's Collaborative for the past several years. Also, Valerie has participated in the statewide accreditation collaborative in Illinois since 2012 serving as a mock reviewer, advisory committee participant and conference presenter.

Our second speaker is Jerie Reid.  Jerie is the Director of Public Health in Clinton County, NY, a rural, 82,000 population community bordering Quebec to the north and Lake Champlain and Vermont to the east. As Director, she oversees a full service Health Department which is comprised of 5 Divisions: Administration; Finance and IT; Health Planning and Promotion; Environmental Health, and Health Care Services. Prior to taking this position in 2012, she was the Nutrition Services Coordinator, overseeing preventive nutrition and health education services in the Department; as well as clinical and community nutrition in a variety of other public and private settings. A public health employee for over 25 years, she holds degrees in Clinical Nutrition, Human Nutrition, Administration and a graduate Certificate in Public Health.

Both speakers talked about the process they used to obtain accreditation, and the benefits that they have realized from becoming accredited.
