Course Description

Introduction to the Incident Command System
ICS-100 webinar session provides personnel involved with emergency planning, response and recovery efforts an introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training.  This session will cover the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of ICS.  It will also explain the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). 

Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Explain the principles and basic structure of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Describe the NIMS management characteristics that are the foundation of the ICS.
- Describe the ICS functional areas and the roles of the Incident Commander and Command Staff.
- Describe the General Staff roles within ICS.
- Identify how NIMS management characteristics apply to ICS for a variety of roles and discipline areas.

Primary Audience
The target audience includes persons involved with emergency planning, and response or recovery efforts.

This webinar can be used as a refresher of ICS 100 or to assist you in taking the IS-100.c online course offered through the FEMA Training website. Completing the webinar alone does not meet the requirements for completing ICS 100. You will still need to take the exam offered through FEMA to receive a certificate of completion for IS-100.c. Once you have passed the test offered at www.training.fema.gov, you will receive an email with a certificate of completion attached. Please print two copies of the certificate- one for your records and one for your organization's Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

POST TEST INSTRUCTIONS - FEMA CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

In order to receive official FEMA certification in ICS-100 students must take the FEMA Final Exam via link provided. Please note that the IS Program now requires a FEMA SID to be used instead of your SSN. If you do not have a SID, register for one here.
