Course Description

Background

The purpose of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) Training is to provide personnel at adult care facilities across the State of New York with the information and tools to develop a CEMP to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and man-made disasters. 

Training Objectives

1. Facilitate staff familiarity with CEMP purpose, use, development, and implementation.

2. Empower facilities to be self-sufficient for 72 hours after an incident.

3. Enable facilities’ timely determination and implementation of protective actions.

4. Foster collaboration and coordination with facility emergency response partners

5. Build the foundation for a risk-based CEMP and emergency preparedness program.

6. Empower facilities to use the Incident Command System to respond to emergencies.

7. Empower Facilities to identify critical information to protect and disseminate during an incident.

Target Audience

Adult care facility personnel that will be involved in facility level emergency planning (strongly recommended for Administrators and Safety / Security / Plant Managers).

    Prerequisites

    Although there are no prerequisites, participants are highly encouraged to take FEMA IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100, prior to attending this training.  IS-100.C reviews important terms and concepts that will be relevant this training.
